Shweta not to be replaced in Kasauti

There were reports that Shweta Tiwari, who is playing Prerna in Kasauti Zindagi Kay, may be replaced by the production house as she is not giving her 100% to the show. A source from the unit however has denied this.

“Shweta comes to the sets everyday and is giving more than 100% to the show. There is going to be no replacement for her as the production house cannot do without her. This show is successful because of her and it will be silly to replace her,” says the source.

“It is true that sometimes the production house uses a body double for her, but that is for master shots and every actor does it for their show. So there is no big deal about it,” the source adds.

Mahesh Pandey, scriptwriter of the show, also has something similar to say. “If we replace Shweta then we will have to end the show as well. There was no such discussion otherwise Ektaa would have informed me about it. It is true that Shweta is facing many personal problems but Balaji is absolutely ready to adjust with her dates and timings.”

Further, it was also being said that the show may be pushed to the noon slot from prime time due to low TRPs. But Mahesh terms it as baseless. “Kasauti is not getting low TRPs at all. In fact last week it was the number two show on Star. We do not want to shift it to the noon slot.”

Komolika in Kasautii? That’s good news

Kasautii Zindagi Kay, after its leap, has been a shadow of its previous self. With a more mature Prerna (who’s been sleepwalking through her part these days), and the absence of the sparring between Bajaj and Anurag Basu, the show is beginning to lag. Now we are told the infamous Komolika is poised to return, complete with a new hairstyle. It might just do the trick. Urvashi Dholakia as Komolika did inject an amount of spice into the Kasautii proceedings, and if the plot supports her fresh entry, the show might just wrestle itself back into the reckoning again.

Bhojpuri Film Artists Impress Audience with Songs and Dances

Television star Shweta Tiwari, while attending the release of the Bhojpuri film Kab Aibu Anganwa Hamar’s audio tapes at Sri Krishna Memorial Hall in Patna on Thursday, enthralled the audience by her dance with her co-star and Bhojpuri actor Manoj Tiwari who also won the hearts of the people by his song and dance.

The star of the critically acclaimed TV serial ‘Kasauti Zindagi Ki’, Shweta Tiwari praised the people of Bihar for making her feel at home despite her apprehensions. “Frankly, I was scared to come to Bihar but now that I am here, it feels as if I am right at home,” she said adding she would not mind coming to Bihar for shows that she would be willing to do for free.

Manoj Tiwari, during his speech, said he would soon be seen with Hindi film superstar Amitabh Bachchan in Bhojpuri film ‘Gangotri’.

“Mr. Bachchan speaks fluent Bhojpuri and his presence in a Bhojpuri film is certain to give a shot in the arm to this industry that has always been eclipsed by the more mainstream Hindi films,” Manoj Tiwari said.

State Information Minister Arjun Rai thanked the stars for reviving the bygone glories of Bhojpuri films and described Manoj Tiwari as the pride of Bihar.

Shweta Tiwari later also participate in the promotion of her yet another Bhojpuri film “Hamar Saiyan Hindustani”.

The kasauti for Kasautii Zindagii Kay

Ekta Kapoor may be hoping that Urvashi Dholakia’s Komolika character will help boost the TRPs of Kasautii Zindagii Kay . Komolika is back on the show after one year.
The issue is not the women but men. Audiences want the men - Ronit Roy and Cezanne Khan back on the show. Ronit, Ekta may still be able to bring back through some bizzare twist, but Cezanne won’t be back, considering he was the one to opt out of the show.

Hindustan Times reported that Prerna is a star in Kabul,  and the people there do not miss Kasautii Zindagii Kay.

Prerna, Bajaj of ‘Kasautii…’ are Bhutanese heartthrobs

Syed Zarir Hussain, Namseling (Bhutan), June 17: The skyline was afire with tints of red and gold with the sun beginning to set over the Himalayan kingdom of Bhutan. Middle-aged Lily Tashi and her two sisters-in-law were busy, their hands in full flow, sowing paddy in this village on the outskirts of capital Thimphu.

The clock was ticking and the three women were getting restless to get back home.

“What will happen to Ap Baja?” asked one. “Will Am Pena and Anura come together as a couple again?” wondered another before the three hurried back home with bamboo baskets slung over their backs.

Guess who Ap Baja, Am Pena and Anura are? Ap Baja (Ap means Mr in Bhutan) is none other than Mr Bajaj (Ronit Roy) of the popular Indian soap “Kasautii Zindagii Kay” telecast on Star TV, Am Pena (Am means Ms in Bhutan) is Prerna (Shweta Tiwari), and Anura is Anurag (Cezanne Khan).

Speaking just a smattering of Hindi, the three Bhutanese women - their national language is Dzongkha - pronounce Prerna as Pena and Bajaj as Baja - but that doesn’t deter them from following the serial.

“For us, ‘Kasautii…’ is almost a religion - we have been following the serial for years and have never missed it,” Tashi said.

“I have just about two hours to complete all my household chores - freshening up, cooking and other things - before I get to be in front of the TV.”

Such is the craze for Prerna and Bajaj that any Hollywood or Bollywood actor would be put to shame in this Land of the Thunder Dragon of 700,000 people.

“Demi Moore, Cameron Diaz, Priyanka Chopra, or even John Abraham would go unnoticed, but if Prerna or Bajaj or Anurag happen to come to Bhutan they would surely be mobbed!” said Pema Rinzin, a well-known Bhutanese filmmaker.

The popularity of the Hindi soaps has its flipside - the timings of the serials have led to several family discords, even triggering a divorce.

“I have two TV sets at home and by 9 p.m. (Bhutan time is half-an-hour ahead of the Indian Standard Time) both the sets are blocked - my wife watches ‘Kasautii Zindagii Kay’ and my teenaged daughter loves watching ‘Indian Idol’ on Sony TV,” Rinzin said.

“I catch up with world news on TV only in the mornings and often have to miss football matches at night.”

In 2002, a couple in Mongar village fought over a World Cup soccer match and a Hindi soap as there was only one TV set at home and different tastes to cater to.

“The fight reached such a stage that the husband in a rage pushed his wife, leading to a fractured arm. The two later got divorced,” Sherub Gyaltshen, general secretary of the Motion Picture Association of Bhutan, told IANS.

It’s not just the women who are crazy about Hindi TV soaps - a village council meeting that was to discuss urgent local issues was adjourned because many of the male members pleaded with the headman to stop the proceedings when it was time for “Kasautii Zindagii Kay”.

“If someone casts Prerna in one of the Bhutanese language movies it would surely be a hit because she is so popular in the towns and suburbs of Bhutan,” said Dorji Wangchuk, an award winning documentary filmmaker and vice president of the association.

मुझे फिल्मों में रुचि नहीं: श्वेता तिवारी

पिछले साल नच बलिये-2 के सेट पर श्वेता तिवारी ने एक इंटरव्यू में कहा था कि वह कसौटी.. अथवा किसी भी सीरियल के जबरन लीप इयर तक खींचने के पक्ष में नहीं हैं। वर्तमान में ना केवल कसौटी जिंदगी की का लीप इयर शुरू हो चुका है, बल्कि श्वेता तिवारी प्रेरणा के उम्रदराज किरदार को बखूबी निभा रही हैं। इसके साथ वह भोजपुरी फिल्मों में भी रोल कर रही हैं।
आपने कसौटी जिंदगी की के लीप इयर का हिस्सा बनने से कभी मना किया था?
मैंने कसौटी.. को लेकर कभी भी इस तरह के बयान नहीं दिया। मैंने यही कहा था कि अगर कसौटी.. दूसरी बार लीप इयर में जाएगा तब मैं अपनी शर्तो पर काम करूंगी। आज भी मैं अपनी ही शर्तो पर काम कर रही हूं। अलबत्ता मीडिया ने हमेशा मेरी बातों को तोड़ मरोड़ कर छापा है।
क्या खास बदलाव महसूस करती हैं आप प्रेरणा के किरदार में?
प्रेरणा जैसी पहले थी वैसी ही आज भी है। उसके गेटअप में बहुत ज्यादा फर्क नहीं आया है। वह ऊंचे घराने की वयोवृद्ध औरत जैसी ही दिखती है। अलबत्ता पहले से ज्यादा मैच्योर लगती है। उसके व्यक्तित्व में जो शान आप देख रहे हैं वह उसके किरदार में आए बदलाव के अनुरूप है।
कितना आसान था प्रेरणा की इस उम्र को जीना?
प्रेरणा की बढ़ती उम्र को मैंने धीरे-धीरे जीया है। हाँ मुझे जब बताया गया कि कहानी को बीस साल आगे ले जाया जा रहा है तब मुझे कुछ होमवर्क करने की जरुरत महसूस हुई, क्योंकि मुझे अब अपने से दोगुनी उम्र की औरत को प्ले करना था। मैंने बड़े घरानों की पचास से साठ की उम्र की औरतों को करीब से देखने और समझने की कोशिश की है। उनकी चाल ढाल, पहरावा, बातचीत आदि को पढ़ने की कोशिश की है। रही सही कसर मेकअप दादा ने पूरी कर दी। उन्होंने काफी मेहतन की है मेरे किरदार के मेकओवर में।
प्रेरणा का एक जैसा किरदार करते-करते कभी कोफ्त नहीं होती?
पिछले छह सालों में कसौटी.. ने अच्छे दर्शक बटोरे हैं। अगर आप इसे रेगुलर देख रहे हैं तो आपने महसूस किया होगा कि मेरे यानी प्रेरणा के किरदार में कभी एकरसता नहीं दिखी। मैंने खुद महसूस किया है हर छठे माह पर जब मुझे लगता कि मेरा किरदार मोनोटोनस सा होता जा रहा है, तभी मेरे किरदार से रिलेटेड कोई नया कैरेक्टर जुड़ जाता जिसकी वजह से प्रेरणा की सोच और उसके तौर-तरीके बदल जाते थे। कभी-कभी कहानी के प्लॉट में भारी फेरबदल कर दिया जाता था। कभी लीप इयर तो कभी मेकओवर के जरिये भी मेरे किरदार में बदलाव लाया जाता था।
मदहोशी और आबरा का डाबरा के बाद आप फिल्मों से गायब हो गयीं?
फिल्मों के प्रति मेरे मन में कभी भी बहुत ज्यादा रूझान नहीं था। ना ही मैंने कभी कोशिश की। मदहोशी अथवा आबरा.. मुझे घरेलू रिलेशनशिप की वजह से करनी पड़ी। इन फिल्मों का भविष्य क्या था, मैंने यह भी जानने की कोशिश नहीं की। आज मैं अपने सीरियल और कॉमर्शियल में इतनी व्यस्त हूँ कि कुछ और करने के लिए मेरे पास समय नहीं है।
आज भी फिल्मों में टीवी कलाकारों की खास वैल्यू नहीं है। आप क्या कहती हैं?
मैं आपकी बात से सहमत हूँ। टीवी का कद कितना भी बड़ा हो जाए, फिल्म के समानांतर नहीं आ सकता। आज टीवी के स्थापित ज्यादातर कलाकार फिल्मों में साइड रोल तक ही सीमित हैं। मैं किसी का नाम नहीं लूंगी। मेकर्स उन्हें लेकर बड़ा जुआ खेलने से बचते हैं। मुझे इसलिए भी फिल्मों में इंट्रेस्ट नहीं है, क्योंकि मैं टीवी की दुनिया में खुश भी हूं और व्यस्त भी। सब कुछ तो है मेरे पास।
हाल ही में आपकी बेटी ने भी मॉडलिंग से इस लाइन में पदार्पण किया है?
पिछले दिनों पलक और मैंने डिज्नी लैंड और हांगकांग में गाला ब्रश वालों के लिए शूटिंग की। बहुत जल्दी इसका प्रसारण शुरु हो जाएगा। मगर हम यह सिलसिला और आगे नहीं चलने देंगे। अभी वह मात्र छह साल की है। उसे अभी पूरा समय अपनी पढ़ाई के लिए देना होगा। उसे कॉमर्शियल की आदत पड़ जाएगी तो पढ़ने से उसका मन उचट जाएगा।
और क्या कर रही है इन दिनों?
पिछले दिनों मैंने अपने पति राजा के साथ सूर्या बल्ब का कॉमर्शियल किया है। इसके अलावा तीन भोजपुरी फिल्में कर रही हूँ। एक रवि किशन के साथ दो मनोज तिवारी के साथ। बहुत अच्छे अनुभव रहे हैं।
